What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art that focuses on technique, leverage, and control rather than size or strength. It teaches kids how to defend themselves, escape bad positions, and apply submissions safely and effectively.
What is No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu?
No-Gi BJJ means training without the traditional gi (uniform). Instead, students wear a rash guard and shorts, which allows for better movement, faster-paced training, and real-world self-defence applications.
Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu safe for kids?
Yes! Safety is our top priority. BJJ is a non-striking martial art, meaning there are no punches or kicks involved. Our experienced coaches ensure that kids learn techniques in a controlled and supervised environment, focusing on respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
What should my child wear to class?
For No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, your child should wear:
✔ Rash guard or fitted sports top
✔ Grappling or athletic shorts (no pockets or zippers)
✔ Barefoot on the mats (no shoes needed)
If you’re unsure where to get the gear, we can help with recommendations.
My child has never done martial arts, is that ok?
Of course! Our kids’ BJJ classes welcome both beginners and experienced students. We tailor training to match your child's skill level, ensuring they progress at their own pace.
How will my child benefit from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Training in BJJ helps kids develop:
✅ Confidence & self-discipline
✅ Focus & problem-solving skills
✅ Physical strength & fitness
✅ Respect & teamwork
BJJ isn’t just about self-defense—it teaches valuable life skills that your child will carry with them for years to come!
Can parents watch the classes?
Absolutely! We encourage parents to watch and support their child’s progress. Seeing them gain confidence, learn new techniques, and have fun is always rewarding.
Who teaches the classes?
Coach Mikey (left, blue rash guard) is our current juniors coach. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience. When he's not teaching our kids BJJ classes he's coaching kids boxing, adults BJJ and adults wrestling. He also works in the NDIS space and is a blue and yellow card holder.
