12 Days of Pretty Day 5: Interview With Head Coach Paul About The Holiday Period

The holidays are a time for celebration, but for athletes and gym-goers, they can also be a challenge when it comes to staying on track. Today, we sit down with Pretty Top Team’s head coach, Paul, to talk about how he navigates the festive season. From his Christmas plans to tips on maintaining balance and avoiding overindulgence, Coach Paul shares his personal approach to staying motivated without missing out on the holiday spirit. Whether you’re a competitor or just staying active, his advice will help you keep the Pretty Top Team mindset strong through the holidays!

1. Firstly what are you Christmas plans?

I plan to spend the Xmas holidays with my favourite in laws in Perth!

2. How do you balance enjoying the holidays with maintaining your fitness and training?

Planning - making sure to block out at least an hour a day preferably the same time everyday, however being flexible is also important.

2. Do you set any specific holiday goals or routines to stay motivated during the festive season?

No, but just understanding that any form of movement is better than no movement at all (walks with my wife, sightseeing) and that 1 hour of training as opposed to the 1.5-2 hours regularly is plenty while on holiday.

3. What’s your go-to healthy holiday recipe or snack?

 Meat and fruit

4. Do you indulge in any holiday treats, and if so, how do you keep it balanced?

 Yes, and I don’t 🤣🤣🤣

5. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to members trying to avoid overindulging during the holidays?

Depends on the person and their goals. If you are a non-competitor, life is short. Eat the pastries. If you are a competitor, life is short but so is your window of opportunity as a competitor so ensure that for every day you spend on holiday you’ve dedicated double that time to being disciplined and focused on your competition goals prior to your holiday. One week of relaxation isn’t going to undermine 3-6 months of dedication and discipline.

Have a great Christmas Coach Paul!
