A Weekend Of Muay Thai & Boxing For Cairns Fighters

It was an action-packed Saturday on October 26th for Pretty Top Team, as our fighters showcased their talent and resilience across two major events. With Coach Myles heading to Brisbane for Destiny Muay Thai and a team of fighters competing in Townsville’s Dojo Storm development day, we’re incredibly proud of everyone’s hard work, determination, and grit. Here’s a look back at the day!

Coach Myles Battles for the WBC Super Bantamweight Queensland Title

Myles Pressley took on the skilled Jake Green from Muay Thai Mulish in a hard-fought, five-round bout for the WBC Super Bantamweight Queensland title at the Destiny Muay Thai show in Brisbane. Although Myles didn’t secure the win, he demonstrated an impressive level of skill and tenacity, showing remarkable heart and technique that went toe-to-toe with a formidable opponent. We’d love to see a rematch between Myles and Jake in the future – the showdown is bound to be one for the books!

Strong Performances at Townsville’s Dojo Storm Development Day

Meanwhile, nine of our fighters traveled to Courage Training Centre’s Dojo Storm development day in Townsville, with both Muay Thai fighters and boxers representing Pretty Top Team. Our Muay Thai competitors included Eloise, Oisin, Nicole, Aiden, Che, and Cameron, while Alex Merriman, Elisha Robot, and Harvey Stevens participated in competitive sparring for boxing.

The day saw a mix of results, with fighters showing incredible sportsmanship and resilience:

  • Wins: Oisin, Aiden, Che, Cameron (Muay Thai); Harvey and Elisha (Boxing)

  • Losses: Nicole, Eloise, and Alex, who put up a strong fight and gained valuable experience for future competitions.

Celebrating Teamwork and Development

Each fighter brought their best to the ring, representing Pretty Top Team’s commitment to growth and community. Development days like Dojo Storm are an invaluable part of our fighters’ journey, allowing them to sharpen their skills in a competitive setting while preparing for future challenges. We'd like to make a special mention to Coach Hamish of Only Human Muay Thai, SA and Amy Glennon (PTT Fighter & Fight Manager) for cornering Myles for his fight.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited for what lies ahead for each of our fighters. With experience gained and lessons learned, the entire team is more motivated than ever to keep training, improving, and showcasing what Pretty Top Team is all about. Congratulations to everyone who competed – your courage and hard work make us proud!

Stay tuned for updates on our fighters’ upcoming bouts and how they continue to put Cairns on the map in the combat sports scene.
